Tools for Sense-Making Series – Episode 1
I’ve noticed a frequent pattern in how people perceive the world: a simplified view that pits “us” against “them.” This simplistic model often leads us to seek political solutions as the primary means of addressing complex problems. However, I believe this approach is flawed and ultimately ineffective.
A more nuanced understanding of the world is essential. Instead of viewing the world as a zero-sum game, we should recognize the interconnectedness of individuals and the complex interplay of cultural, social, and psychological factors that shape human behavior.
By adopting a more holistic perspective, we can develop more effective strategies for addressing our challenges. While politics can be important in our lives, it is often a downstream effect of cultural and social shifts. True change usually originates from the ground up, as individuals and communities challenge the status quo and advocate for new ways of thinking and behaving.
By recognizing our complex world and the limitations of political solutions, we can work towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
